End of Summer and Beginning of Fall in New Oregon House
We’ve been in our house for about ten months now and no walls have fallen down! We spent much of the summer doing things around the outside of the house while we had good weather. Early in the summer we did our major landscaping and finished the patio. Once the big stuff was completed, we started working on some of the little details; putting up a fence, building arbors, making a covered area for outdoor storage, etc. There is still more we would like to do with the yard, butnothing pressing at this point.
We have had a couple of warranty issues come up recently, both of which were taken care of quickly.
With the weather changing in September we finally had to turn on our heat, but when we switched it on, nothing happened. We called the HVAC company that installed the system and they promptly sent someone out to have it checked out. Apparently a bird flew into a vent. The technician was able to get the dead bird out and it has been working since. He did say that there should have been a cap on it and he was going to get the part ordered. A small oversight from when the furnace was installed.
The other issue was with our front door dead bolt. We started having issues where it would get stuck and we would have to mess with it to get it to lock. It just got worse overtime so we finally put in a request with Adair Homes warranty to have it looked at.
They have a new warranty portal that customers can use to make a claim (before we just sent an email to the warranty department). The new portal worked just as well. We received a confirmation email the same day and a phone call from the site superintendent later that day. He came out as scheduled and was quick in getting it fixed.
In the process of doing the warranty claim we found out that that the site superintendent that worked on our house is no longer with the company or any of the other staff that was working at our branch when we first started the process two years ago. Everyone we worked with was very helpful so it is a little surprising to see such turnover, and disappointing as they are the ones that know what was going on with our house. It gives me a little concern about the management above them as we had problems with them when we had issues during the construction process. At this point there is not a lot we can do, but hope that the new people are just as helpful.
Since moving into the house we have only had a couple of minor issues come up and are thankful for the quick resolutions so far. I can’t believe that only a year ago we were just in the midst of the building process.
