Day 108 – Still Waiting for Utility Trenches to be Back Filled

Things inside are continuing to progress. The drywall guys were back this week to texture the walls. We also had the concrete poured for our driveway.

We still have open utility trenches outside, I’ve been trying to get the excavator back on site to finish up. He was supposed to be there yesterday, but did not show up. He said he was having mechanical issues. I called him earlier in the week and he was on another project. He’s already three weeks behind from when he said he was going to be done and it’s causing delays for painting the exterior, finishing the front porch and getting gas hooked up.

I spoke with the gas company and they are set to go once the trench gets back filled. He said that they are estimating 17 days from when he orders it to the time of installation; so as soon as the trench is filled I need to call him to get the gas meter installation set up.

With the drywall textured we have the weekend for it to dry. The weather has been clear but it has been cold.  The painters are set to come out Monday to paint the walls and ceilings.

After much debate about the paint colors we decided on the first colors we looked at. We’re going to paint the ceilings and trim extra white and the walls are going to be repose grey by Sherwin-Williams.

We’re still on schedule for the finish truck to arrive on 11/26. We should be finished with the painting early next week, so hopefully we’ll be able to get the trim truck here earlier.

IMG_6234Update:

The excavator was able to get back on site yesterday afternoon and back filled the gas line trench. (Wooohooo!) I called my contact at NW Natural and he placed the order right away. They have to get permits from the city, but we have an install date that is set for on or before December 7 (more than the 17 business days they had said before). If you’re planning on doing natural gas, be sure to get this done early. I didn’t think it was going to take that long for the gas company to come out, hopefully they’ll be able to do it sooner than the given date.
