Waiting for Construction Permits and Completing the Lot Ready Requirements
Tomorrow will officially be 10 weeks from submitting the applications for construction permits for our Oregon new home build. The original time line said 6 weeks. There were a couple of supplemental items that needed to be addressed; they were submitted two weeks ago. We have been waiting for a response from the city since then.
I emailed the project manager from the city, who is working on permits yesterday and he said that he was done with his portion of the work. He was waiting on the public works department to complete their review. This would be the person I met with a couple of weeks ago about the sidewalks and rain garden. I submitted exactly what he asked for, so in my mind it should be pretty easy to review.
Getting the Lot Ready for Construction of Our New Oregon Home
Our due date to have everything ready is quickly approaching. We’re still set to have the lot ready by July 5th, but need the permits for construction to begin.
We have been waiting on the surveyor to come out and mark the lot. There was a slight issue where a couple of years ago they had repaved the street in front of the house, and in so doing they covered up the markers that marked the lot.
I spoke with our excavator earlier this week and the surveyor was able to find different markers and would be able to set the corners for the front of the house. I’m hoping he does not find any issues and is able to get those set either today or tomorrow.
Our excavator is planning on getting the rock delivered to create the pad for the house early next week. He has the soil analysis scheduled next week as well, so as long as we don’t have any hiccups everything we need to get done will be completed next week.
Staffing Issues with Adair Homes
Another issue that has come up is that two of the people we have worked most closely with from Adair Homes are no longer with the company, both the Adair Homes sales representative and the Adair Homes pre-construction manager from the Creswell branch. I had been emailing with the pre-construction administrator and then all of sudden, I stopped getting a response from her.
Early last week we got an email from the pre-construction administrator from a different office stating that the person we had been working with was no longer with the company. This is super unfortunate because the new person is not familiar with our jurisdiction. Also, she has not been very responsive. My wife emailed her last week and she never emailed back, so I had to call her and she seemed very unsure of what was going on in our case. It is also unfortunate that the communication from Adair Homes was so poor on this issue. A huge part of why we chose Adair Homes as a builder is that we liked the people we were working with, so hopefully this works itself out.
Since there haven’t been many changes this past week, let’s take a look at the videos of pre-demolition to demolition.
