Residential Home Demolition in Oregon

The fun has finally begun! After months of planning, talking with contractors and getting things lined up, we’re finally starting work on the site. We had the asbestos mitigated two weeks ago and demolition started last week. It’s crazy how fast the demolition happens; the entire structure was down to a pile of rubble within a couple of hours from starting.

The plan is to continue working on clearing the land this week. Once they remove all the debris from the site they’ll start with demolition of the concrete foundation.

Week 5 for Construction Permit Application

In the meantime, we are still waiting on construction permits. This is the fifth week since we’ve submitted them and the estimated timeline for getting them approved was five to six weeks. It looks like it will be closer to six weeks, as I just checked on them and the status is currently “plans in review”.

As stated in the Plan Review Commitment letter the latest we will hear back is May, 25; so we should definitely hear back on the permits by this date.

Construction Date Still on Schedule

We’re still looking at July 12th as the date to start construction, but are hoping to move that date up into June. If we can get the site preparation done early (which it looks like we should be) and get the permits on time, starting construction sooner looks like a real possibility.
