Preparing for Oregon New Home – Tree Removal
We’ve been working our way through the process of getting our new home demolished. As part of that process we needed to remove some trees from the lot where the new home will be placed, and so they can access the old home for demolition.
I was hoping to have the old home demolished soon, but we’ve been waiting on different contractors for bids. We had the house tested for asbestos and lead and it took about two week to get the report back and the bid on mitigation.
Unfortunately, the cost of mitigation was more than what we anticipated and some of the areas they tested were on the borderline for needing to be removed. Apparently, there was some gypsum in the walls and that area tested for a small amount of asbestos. The question was whether the asbestos was contamination from mining or actual asbestos in the wall.
We decided to have those areas tested again by a different company which uses a more specific test, and luckily it came back below the threshold for what needs to be taken out. We still have a small section in the kitchen floor and the roof that needs to be mitigated, but without it in the walls it will hopefully be much less to get it removed. We’re now just waiting to hear back from the contractor for the second bid on mitigation.
In the meantime, we decided we were tired of waiting around, and wanted to get something started, so we had some trees removed that were in the way. Below are some before and after pictures of the tree removal.
